栃餅

新潟の食べ物が続きます。栃の実のもち、とちもち。 独特の香りと渋みがあるので、苦手な人も多いかも。 関東でも売っているのですが、こちらは香りが全然違います。陳列の物を全て買い占めてきました。 

One more Niigata food! Tochimochi is a rice cake made from Japanese horse-chestnut. As it has a unique flavor and astringency, some people may not like them. They are also available in Kanto area, but the ones in Niigata have a totally different flavor. We bought all of them on the shelf in grocery store during our Niigata trip! ​
